Who we are and what we do

The Gull Lake Watershed Society is a stewardship group of dedicated volunteers who monitor Gull Lake for water level, water quality, and overall health of the watershed ecosystem.  We advocate for the lake with the Alberta Government, local municipal governments, and other interested parties.  We explore, develop and initiate proof of concept ideas that may present elegant and practical solutions for concerns about the lake.​​​

Our Story

Welcome to the Gull Lake Watershed Society, a nonprofit powered entirely by volunteers who care deeply about the future of Gull Lake.

What began in 1998 with simple water sampling has grown into a broader commitment to understanding, protecting, and restoring the lake and its watershed. Over the years, we've watched Gull Lake change—sometimes gradually, sometimes dramatically. Those changes have brought our 2,500-member community together around a shared purpose: to understand what's happening, advocate for solutions, and help ensure a healthy future for the lake.

We are families, farmers, cottagers, year-round residents, new arrivals, and long-time lake lovers. We bring different perspectives and experiences, but we are united by a common concern for the lake and the watershed we all depend on.

Together, we continue to ask:
